Made from the Blue Agave plant, Tequila has more breadth of flavour than people expect. Try a Blanco or Silver for fresh, clean flavours, Reposado styles where light aging in Oak barrels (2-12 months) mellows the fresh agave and introduces warmer flavours and earthiness, or Anejo ( aged for at least 12 months in Oak), for a more complex flavour, and rich caramel notes. An aged tequila can give real depth of flavour to your margarita, although why mask the incredible flavours on a Anejo, a delight to sip straight or over ice. And if you think tequila just isn’t for you, try Jose Cuervo Agavero, a 100% blue agave liqueur – complex, smooth and sweet.
