Margrain Chardonnay

The nose shows generous stone fruit characters, hints of tropical flesh and an enticing mealyness reminiscent of fine Champagne. The oak, fully integrated from barrel fermentation, is almost imperceptible but broadens the wine and adds a light pepperyness which reminds me of saw-cut recycled Kauri and some cooked toffee complexity. A waft of marzipan and a touch of dried herb lead through to the classical Kiwi aroma of hokey pokey clusters
